First, thank you! We could not do our work without the generosity of parents who are willing to provide their valuable time, insight, and expertise. We seek to gain a diversity of perspectives on the stressors that occur during family life, and we are indebted to the hundreds of couples who have provided their unique insights.

CIRCLES Study

We appreciate our participants’ willingness to contribute to our research by being part of the CIRCLES Study. We are excited to have reached our goal of having 450 individuals participating in the study. Even though we are no longer enrolling new couples for the CIRCLES Study, we encourage you to keep visiting this website or our Facebook page for study updates, future research opportunites, to make use of the resources we provide, and to learn about the findings of this study.

Participating in a study in our lab can provide you with an opportunity to consider how current stressors and past stressful experiences impact you and your family relationships. You can also observe psychological science in action, help train Penn State students and future scientists, and contribute to a body of knowledge that is designed to help others strengthen their relationships and build a better future for their children. If you think you might want to participate in a research study in the Relationships and Stress Research Lab, please call or email Angie Morrison at:

Identifying the Cognitive, Psychological, and Neuroimaging Signatures of Head Trauma in Female Survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

The Hillary Lab is currently recruiting new participants for an in-person study! We are pleased to report that we have been funded by National Institute of Health to investigate the effects of physical violence and head trauma, as a result of intimate partner violence, on psychological health, thinking abilities, and the brain. We are looking for female survivors of intimate partner violence who would like to share their stories with us, as well as complete an MRI scan and cognitive testing.
